FAQs

  1. What is the school menu for today?
    The school menu can be found under the Parent Info tab on the website.

  2. What school clubs are available for my child?
    Before and after school clubs are available for children from Year 1 upwards. The clubs list can be found under the Parent Info tab on the website.

  3. What is the date of my child’s school trip/activity?
    School trips, activities, INSET and term dates, etc can be found on our Key Dates page under the Parent Info tab on the website.

  4. What are the INSET dates?
    INSET (In-Service Training) dates, when we know them, are on both the Key Dates list and on term dates. INSET days are a series of days where children do not attend school, enabling the teaching staff to carry out professional development training and administration. 

  5. When do children change from summer to winter uniform?
    Our School Handbook gives information on summer and winter uniform and when to change. Our School Handbook and Uniform can be found under the Parent Info tab on our website.

  6. What is my child’s teacher’s email address?
    Staff email addresses are their first name, then their last name, followed by @st-andrews.brighton-hove.sch.uk. A list of all staff can be found on the Staff Page on our website under About Us.

  7. How can I volunteer in school?
    You can find out more about volunteering at St. Andrew's on our PTA page and vacancies are also listed here. Those interested in getting involved with volunteering at the school will be required to undergo a DBS check and safeguarding briefing prior to starting. 

  8. When should I keep my child off from school?
    Please refer to the NHS link for your guidance of when to keep your child off from school  https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/is-my-child-too-ill-for-school/ - You can find out how to notify the school of your child's absence here.

  9. My child is taking antibiotics, can they have them at school? 
    If your child is required to take antibiotics four times a day we are happy to administer this at school.  Please bring them to the school office at drop off and complete a short form for our medical officer.  The antibiotics will be stored in the fridge for you to collect at the end of the day. If your child is required to take their antibiotics three times a day,  we ask where possible, that you manage this at home in the morning, after school and before bed.  However, if this is difficult for any reason, i.e. going to an after-school club etc. please always pop into the office and request this. 

  10. My child has a medical condition, who do I talk to? 
    Please contact the school’s Medical Welfare Officer, Kate Paice either on the main school contact number 01273 770082 or email Katepaice@st-andrews.brighton-hove.sch.uk.

  11. My child has an inhaler, how is this managed at school? 
    We require two inhaler’s to be provided to the school with a spacer device. These will be stored centrally in the medical room and taken off site to all school trips.  You will be notified via our school medical tracker system if your child has used their inhaler at school noting time and dose.

  12. My child has an allergy, how is this managed at school?
    Please contact our school medial welfare officer either on the main school line or email katepaice@st-andrews.brighton-hove.sch.uk to discuss your child’s individual needs and Kate Paice will produce an individual plan for your child.  If your child has been prescribed an AAI device such as an EpiPen we will need two to be provided to the school and an antihistamine.

  13. My child has a food allergy/intolerance can they still have school lunches?
    Yes they can, Caterlink is the school’s catering provider and can provide bespoke menus for pupils with either an allergy or intolerance.  You will need to complete a form which you can complete on-line through the local authority Brighton and Hove website, please see Caterlink . You can also email  admin@caterlinkltd.co.uk with any queries.
