Vision and Values
Vision Statement
As a school we strive to:
Inspire a love of learning and enjoy ‘life in all its fullness’, ensuring that everyone can flourish and be the best that they can be” (referenced from John 10:10)
Within a joyful, inclusive and caring Christian environment our school family will embrace challenge, celebrate achievement, inspire a love of learning and enjoy ‘life in all its fullness’. We will fulfil this statement through the application of our five Core Values of Courage, Curiosity, Joy, Love and Respect.
In addition the Department of Education's British values and ethos are a key part of life at St. Andrew's.
Our Values
Courage
We want our children and staff to approach opportunities in their lives without fear, developing an inner strength that will enable them to embrace challenges and face diversity. We will ensure that our children:
- Are ambitious and aspirational in their achievements
- Learn to take risks, moving beyond their comfort zones
- Try new things
- Stand up for themselves and each other
- Are equipped with tools and strategies that enable them to persevere
Respect
In our diverse school community, everyone is treated with dignity and respect and the world we live in is valued and protected. This means our children learn:
- To recognise that they are unique and special
- To celebrate and learn from difference and diversity
- To disagree well
- To include and value others
- To behave appropriately as a member of a community
- To take care of ourselves, each other, our school and our world
Curiosity
We believe that life is fuller when we have an inner desire to question and know more. We will therefore provide a learning environment in which children learn to be:
- Innovative
- Creative
- Inquisitive
- Investigative
- Reflective
Love
Our school community is founded upon an understanding of Christian love. Children learn how to build strong relationships and learn to live well together. This means our children will:
- Learn that they are loved by God
- Be embraced by a school community that shows love and kindness and inspires them to show the same to others
- Learn from the well-modelled relationships between staff and children, staff and parents/ carers and staff with each other
- Thrive within a framework that is designed to equip them with the skills to support their social, emotional and educational needs
- Flourish as unique and individual people
Joy
The Bible states that joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. It inspires positive mental health, equipping children to deal with challenges, and a deep enjoyment of what school life has to offer. This means our children will:
- Thrive in an environment that is built on a foundation of acceptance and hope
- Have fun and find happiness and fulfilment in their learning
- Experience and embrace opportunities beyond the formally assessed curriculum
- Make treasured memories which they will cherish in future life
- Enjoy rich opportunities in the arts, sport and in the world around them that will equip and inspire them in the years ahead
- Understand their own spirituality, finding a deep sense of well-being
