Termly topics
History and Geography content often steers the creation of these topics most naturally, with subjects such as Art and DT and Science enhancing them. Science is linked to topics only when meaningful. At other times, it is taught separately to the termly topics.
Several subjects are taught in addition to this throughout the year, where we adopt recognised teaching programmes (see brackets below):
- French (Primary Language Network)
- Computing (NCCE)
- Religious Education (Understanding Christianity and The Emmanuel Project)
- PE and Sport (Real PE)
- PSHE (Jigsaw)
- Design Technology (Kapow)
For these subjects we research the programmes at length, ensuring they align with the school’s learning philosophy and that knowledge and skills are introduced, repeated and consolidated at different levels, as children move through the school.
